How I use Trunk Notes

I’m often asked about what I use Trunk Notes for personally. So I thought I would post a quick overview of what is in my personal wiki:

  • The home page shows
    • Today’s date
    • How many wiki entries I currently have made
    • Quick links to Journal, Work, To Action and iPhone
    • Stuff to look at in the next day (e.g. links, etc)
    • Actions that should be completed in the next seven day
  • Journal - a page for each month
  • Meeting notes
  • App Store reviews for Trunk Notes and Go Calc
  • Pages detailing new features to implement
  • Details about when bills need paying (using the GTD context @action so they appear on the home page when required)
  • Recipes - the latest being a delicious Spelt risotto
  • Tax
  • Details of events I’ve been to/going to. These are linked from the iPhone calendar - e.g. put wiki://Concert24Sept
  • Lots and lots of random ideas for stuff I will probably never get around to developing
  • Notes taken during conferences/lectures
  • Lists of books I want to read, music to listen to, films to see

I use links, tags and action contexts to keep my information under control. I use Fluid on my Mac to run Trunk Notes in a site specific web browser (benefits of Fluid include icon on the dock and automatic authentication)

My Trunk Notes wiki is fairly small in comparison to some of yours, only 354 pages!
