new user interface possibilities

How could Trunk be improved?

new user interface possibilities

Regarding your twitter post:

Real-estate. I like the flexibility of the current UI, but would like a way to make the toolbar and navigation bar disappear when I don't need them. This would apply to both editing mode and viewing mode. Some thoughts:
- Tap on the upper bar that has the Phone stats (time, signal strength, etc) to make these UI objects disappear and appear.
- Have them scroll off the screen

Other thoughts
- Pinch zoom in/out
- Transparent tool bar
- Night mode using an alternate stylesheet

Thanks for listening and great app!

Agreed. I have suggested a toolbar the disappears after a few seconds like the New York Times app. Sadly, it never seems to make the cut

I'm will be completely rewriting the main UI code. Currently it is very 1st gen iPhone app and feels unimpressive compared to top tier apps.

The current plan is to rewrite the UI specifically for the iPad first - and then do the same for the iPhone.

I'm using Sketchy for the iPad to draw out some ideas and will write a blog post to get feedback when they are ready.

I completely agree with the desire for new user interface changes. I like using trunk but it does become a problem after when you have a large amount of text but little space to type/edit etc in. I use it in landscape because it's easier to use the keyboard that way but there's not much space to view your document and I just want to hide the bars at the top.
This is the only real sticking point for me so far and sorry if this is dated by the way, I'm new. Anyway thanks for the app, it's very useful.

I must get back to redeveloping the UI. Landscape does need some serious work - it can be confusing for new users if they only ever work in landscape and never see the toolbar. Hopefully with the comng of Spring some new ideas can find their way into the Trunk Notes interface :o)
